The Free version offers next to nothing Tests have confirmed its poor malware detection rate Browsing protection is weak Scans are slow There are way better completely free alternatives
IObit Malware Fighter
Price: $
Finding a proper program to help you defend yourself from all types of malware is a tough thing to do, especially if you are not willing to pay money for it. However, paying money for an anti-malware program is definitely not a sure indicator of its quality.
We have decided to review IObit Malware Fighter for Windows to see just what it can brag about. There is a free version of the product available for download, but this version is very, very limited.
You basically get your standard real-time protection along with browsing protection, and a sort of an ad-blocker. Other features, such as a better BitDefender virus engine, ransomware protection, and anti-tracking tools are reserved for Pro users.
There is a standard Scan feature which you should run as soon as you install the tool. In this case, you might notice that it's running quite slowly. The user interface is otherwise modern, but there are too many messages trying to sell you PRO version of the product or other IObit products, which can become annoying.
Independent laboratories which test different antivirus tools didn't even bother to try this tool out, whereas some researchers found out that the results are catastrophic, even with the BitDefender engine activated.
After it failed to react on most test malware files, it reported almost each phishing site tested as 'safe'. Even though it is currently on sale costing $19.95 for a 1-year single PC license, it's poor and it probably won't protect you in ways you want it to.
